Mexico launch
Stake has launched its sportsbook and casino product in Mexico through the stake.mx domain, operating as an agent under Uno Capali’s licence agreement and regulated by SEGOB, the country’s Ministry of Interior. The launch lands one month before Mexico co-hosts the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside the United States and Canada.
Mexico is the third Latin American market Stake has entered, following earlier launches in Peru and Colombia. Online gaming revenue overtook land-based revenue in Mexico for the first time in 2025, marking a structural shift in one of the region’s largest gambling markets.
Stake director Jarrod Febbraio framed the launch as a strategic move into a market with high underlying growth.
“Mexico is an important and exciting market for us – one that combines strong underlying growth with a deep cultural connection to sport, which aligns perfectly with what Stake is built for. We’ve built significant momentum across Latin America in recent years, including in markets such as Peru and Colombia, and Mexico represents a natural next step given its scale and long-term potential.”
World Cup positioning
The 2026 World Cup is reshaping commercial timelines for operators across the Americas. Mexico will host group-stage matches alongside the United States and Canada, a tournament structure expected to drive significant sportsbook acquisition and engagement throughout the region. Stake confirmed the tournament was a key factor in launch timing.
“The timing of this launch reflects our ability to move with precision into high-value markets at the right moment. It gives us the opportunity to establish a strong presence ahead of one of the biggest sporting events in the world and deliver a world-class experience for Mexican players,” Febbraio said.
In March 2026, Stake announced former Real Madrid and Chelsea forward Eden Hazard as its World Cup marketing ambassador, a deal positioned around the tournament window. The Mexican national team has been drawn in a group with South Africa, South Korea and the Czech Republic.
Regulated market pivot
The Mexico entry continues Stake’s push into locally licensed jurisdictions, a strategic shift away from the operator’s historic crypto-led, Curaçao-licensed global model. The brand entered Brazil and Peru in 2024 and Colombia shortly after, and confirmed in early 2026 a five-year licence from Spillemyndigheden to operate in Denmark from March 2026.
Mexican operations structure
Stake is one of several international operators using a permit-holder partnership to enter Mexico, which does not issue direct licences to foreign operators. Local operations rely on a SEGOB permit issued to a domestic entity, with international brands operating as agents under those agreements. The structure allows market access while concentrating regulatory exposure with the licensed Mexican counterpart.
For Stake, the Mexico launch positions the operator to capture sportsbook flow during the World Cup and to test its regulated-market thesis at scale before further licensing rounds across Latin America, including pending B2B framework decisions in Brazil.
