The licensing achievement comes less than a year after Big Daddy Gaming’s launch and positions the studio to begin servicing Swedish-licensed operators starting in Q4 2025. The company expects to announce its first partnership agreements in the coming weeks.
Sweden’s mandatory B2B licensing framework, which took effect on 1 July 2023, requires all software suppliers providing games or critical services to licensed operators to hold Spelinspektionen approval. The regulatory measure aims to strengthen player protection and prevent unlicensed content from entering the Swedish market.
CEO Comments on Market Entry
Erland Hellström, CEO of Big Daddy Gaming, addressed the significance of the Swedish licence approval:
“Securing the SGA licence is a major validation of our compliance standards and technical readiness. Sweden is an essential market in our growth strategy and securing this approval allows us to immediately begin servicing our operator partners here. We look forward to delivering content that brings Real Value to their bottom line and genuine Reel Fun to Swedish players.”
Company Background and Leadership
Founded earlier this year by Hellström, Simon Hammon, and Daniel Eskola, Big Daddy Gaming brings together executives with extensive experience from Relax Gaming’s development into Kindred Group’s core B2B division. The studio is backed by iGaming investment fund Castech and supported by board member Toni Kolehmainen.
The company has positioned itself as a challenger studio focused on disrupting traditional slot supply models in regulated markets.
Malta Licence Application in Progress
Following its Swedish certification, Big Daddy Gaming confirmed it is currently pursuing a gaming licence from the Malta Gaming Authority (MGA). The company has not disclosed a timeline for the Malta application process.
The dual licensing strategy reflects the studio’s focus on establishing regulatory compliance across key European jurisdictions as part of its growth plan.
