Two of the industry’s most significant emerging-market conferences open next week on opposite sides of the world — and they share the exact same dates.
SBC Summit Rio 2026 runs 3–5 March at Riocentro in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. SiGMA Africa 2026 runs 3–5 March at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World in Cape Town, South Africa. Both events target operators, suppliers, affiliates, regulators, and investors. Both carry strong growth narratives. For anyone whose business spans LatAm and Africa, the schedule offers no middle ground.
SBC Summit Rio 2026
SBC Summit Rio is now in its third year. The inaugural edition in 2024 drew around 4,000 delegates when organisers had projected 3,000. In 2025, the event moved to Riocentro — Latin America’s largest convention centre — and attendance surged 200%, earning the “Exhibition Growth of the Year” award at the EN Indy Awards 2025.
The 2026 edition is expected to bring together more than 15,000 delegates across three conference stages. The agenda centres on Brazil’s regulated market, which launched formally on 1 January 2025 under Law No. 14,790. For suppliers and operators still mapping their Brazil entry strategy, the timing is pointed: Brazil reported $7bn GGR and 25 million active bettors in its first year of regulation, making it the most closely watched emerging market in the industry right now.
This year’s programme includes the Affiliate Leaders Summit and the Payment Expert Summit as dedicated verticals within the main event. The INFINITY Rio evening party closes day two. Riocentro sits approximately 40 minutes from central Rio and can accommodate the full exhibition scale the event now requires.

SiGMA Africa 2026
SiGMA Africa is powered by Alea and is now in its fourth year, having launched with an inaugural edition in Kenya before settling in Cape Town. The 2026 summit is hosted at the Grand Arena at GrandWest Casino and Entertainment World, a venue that gives the event direct access to South Africa’s established gaming infrastructure.
Expected attendance is around 3,000 delegates, including over 800 operators, 150-plus speakers, 250 exhibitors and sponsors, and 450 affiliates. The agenda covers regulation and licensing across African jurisdictions, market entry frameworks, payments infrastructure, and the broader technology trends reshaping the continent’s digital economy.
A distinct feature of SiGMA Africa is its regulatory integration. The Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF), held in partnership with SiGMA on 5 March, brings together African regulators and industry stakeholders in a structured policy dialogue. Over 20 regulators are confirmed for the 2026 edition. Ministers of Finance and Planning from Tanzania and Uganda are among the confirmed speakers, reflecting the event’s role as a point of contact between government and private sector.
The Startup Village gives emerging companies direct access to investors. SiGMA Africa Awards are presented during a gala ceremony on the closing evening.

Same Week, Two Markets
The scheduling overlap is not unusual in a conference calendar that has grown faster than the industry’s ability to attend everything. ICE Barcelona in January, SBC Summit Rio and SiGMA Africa in March, SiGMA Americas later in the year — the circuit is increasingly compressed.
For most attendees, the choice between Rio and Cape Town will come down to primary market focus. Operators and suppliers with active Brazil licences or near-term LatAm entry plans will likely be in Rio. Those building relationships across African jurisdictions, or positioning for the continent’s next regulatory wave, will be in Cape Town.
The pace at which emerging markets are moving through regulatory frameworks — Brazil, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda — has made both conferences essential rather than optional for suppliers with a serious growth agenda. The question for most teams is simply which market can’t wait.
