FanDuel said 6,000 customers completed a voluntary gambling survey run with Kindbridge Behavioral Health in March, the first hard usage figure the operator has attached to a responsible gambling partnership that has run since March 2024.
The update, published by FanDuel, sets out how the two organisations now work together across self-assessment, education and treatment referral. Kindbridge is an online mental health provider that specialises in gambling disorder, digital dependency and co-occurring mental health conditions, delivered through telehealth.
What the programme covers
Customers who self-exclude from FanDuel are offered a complimentary mental health assessment at the point of exclusion. Through Kindbridge they can then access educational courses, peer support groups, coaching and counselling with a licensed therapist.
Cory Fox, senior vice president of public policy and sustainability at FanDuel, said the operator chose Kindbridge for its narrow clinical specialism rather than a general behavioural health offering.
Kindbridge stood out for its focus on gambling disorder.
Fox said problem gambling often sits alongside other mental health conditions, which is why FanDuel has directed spending toward behavioural health partnerships and not only toward on-platform tools such as deposit limits and time-outs. The March survey was designed to prompt customers to review their own play, according to the company.
From a two-state pilot to national coverage
The relationship started during Problem Gambling Awareness Month in March 2024 as a pilot in New Jersey and Ohio, giving self-excluded players direct access to mental health assessments and group support services. FanDuel later extended the programme to every jurisdiction where it runs sports betting and online casino. The same 2024 announcement included a $150,000 donation to the International Center for Responsible Gaming (ICRG).
The scope has widened since. FanDuel now lists Kindbridge alongside its work with the National Council on Problem Gambling (NCPG), the Responsible Gambling Council and its Trusted Voices education series, and it named sports broadcaster Craig Carton as its first responsible gambling ambassador.
Work beyond the platform
Daniel Umfleet, founder and chief executive of Kindbridge, said the operator’s activity is not confined to its own customer base. The two have also worked on employee education and financial wellness programmes.
FanDuel doesn’t limit themselves to what’s happening directly on the platform.
Umfleet said that stance carries a message to regulators and legislators, and that the two organisations expect collaboration between gaming operators and behavioural health providers to take on a larger role in safer gambling education and access to support.
The commercial and regulatory backdrop
FanDuel is the largest brand in the Flutter Entertainment portfolio and the leading online sportsbook in the United States by market share. Its performance carries the group: FanDuel accounted for the bulk of US revenue in Flutter’s 2025 property-level results, which makes its regulatory standing in individual states a group-level issue rather than a local one.
That has not stopped cost discipline elsewhere in the business. In March the operator cut more than 100 jobs as its TV network and Picks product wound down, and the company is working through a leadership transition following the departure of chief executive Amy Howe.
Responsible gambling requirements in the US remain set state by state, with no federal standard for what an operator must offer a self-excluded customer. Operators therefore design and disclose their own programmes, which makes usage figures such as the 6,000 March survey completions difficult to benchmark against rivals. European operators face a different position, where regulators have moved toward prescribed affordability checks, deposit limits and advertising restrictions, as tracked in the 2025 European compliance review.
The gap matters for what comes next. US state regulators and legislators have begun asking operators for evidence that responsible gambling spending changes player behaviour, not simply that the programmes exist. FanDuel has now put one number into the public record. The test is whether it repeats the disclosure, adds outcome data such as follow-up treatment take-up, and whether other operators are pushed to publish comparable figures.
