DraftKings launches Crown Cash across its betting products
DraftKings has rolled out Crown Cash, a new rewards currency that displays a customer’s loyalty balance in dollars and can be spent across the operator’s casino, sportsbook, daily fantasy sports (DFS), Jackpocket and Golden Nugget Online Gaming products. The company announced the change on August 12, 2026, as part of a wider relaunch of its DraftKings Rewards loyalty program.
Crown Cash replaces the previous points-based system with a currency customers can put directly toward wagering, gaming and other eligible activities. DraftKings said support for DraftKings Predictions, its newest vertical, is coming later, extending Crown Cash across the full range of its products once it lands.
Five tiers, new benefits
The existing DraftKings Rewards tier structure carries over unchanged: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond and Onyx. What changes is what sits inside each tier. DraftKings added three new benefits: Casino Weekly Bonus Back, a Birthday Bonus and Crown Cash Boosts. Two existing benefits, Elite Rewards and Milestone Rewards, return under the new system.
DraftKings said members also get personalized promotions, curated offers and access to travel and hospitality experiences, without specifying which tiers unlock which perks. The switch to a dollar-denominated currency also removes a common source of customer confusion in points-based loyalty programs: converting an abstract points balance into an actual redemption value.
“By pairing flexibility with personalized benefits and unforgettable experiences, we’re delivering a loyalty program that recognizes customers in meaningful ways,” said Shawn Henley, Chief Customer Officer at DraftKings.
A retention push after a weak quarter
The relaunch lands days after DraftKings reported second-quarter results that missed on the top line. Revenue fell 5% year-over-year to $1.443 billion, down from $1.513 billion in Q2 2025, and the company swung to a net loss of $67.6 million from net income of $157.9 million a year earlier. DraftKings attributed the decline to customer-friendly sport outcomes and higher promotional spending tied to new customer acquisition.
Monthly unique payers still grew, up around 9% to 3.6 million in the quarter, and CEO Jason Robins described the period as one of “real momentum” across handle, users and engagement. Crown Cash fits that pattern: a bet on deepening engagement with existing customers rather than relying only on promotional spend to bring in new ones.
The timing also puts Crown Cash in front of customers ahead of the NFL season, historically DraftKings’ highest-volume stretch for sportsbook handle in the US. A loyalty relaunch that lands before that peak gives the operator a full quarter to measure whether the new structure changes how much existing customers wager and return, before the next earnings report is due.
Part of a wider product push
DraftKings has positioned Crown Cash as one piece of a broader push to consolidate its products under a single account and rewards system. Folding the lottery courier app Jackpocket and the Golden Nugget Online Gaming casino brand into the same currency removes friction for customers who already use more than one DraftKings-owned product, letting a balance earned on the sportsbook carry over to casino play or vice versa.
DraftKings Predictions, which the operator has flagged as a driver of handle growth this quarter, sits outside Crown Cash for now. DraftKings has not given a timeline for when the vertical will be added.
The operator continues to point customers toward responsible gambling tools, including deposit limits, cool-off periods and self-exclusion options, alongside the new rewards structure.
What comes next
DraftKings has not said whether the new benefits will affect the promotional spend it flagged as a drag on second-quarter margins, or how it will measure whether Crown Cash changes retention. With the relaunch now live across its core betting and gaming products, the next earnings report will show whether a simpler, dollar-denominated rewards currency moves the numbers DraftKings needs.
