Novibet has appointed Yiannis Stavroulas as Chief Technology Officer, filling a vacancy created when Sotiris Haritos departed the role in Q4 2025. The company has identified AI development and continued investment in its proprietary betting platform as the key priorities for the incoming CTO.
A Return to Novibet
Stavroulas is not new to the company. His LinkedIn profile confirms he returned to Novibet approximately four months ago after a six-year absence, a fact he acknowledged publicly, describing the return as meaningful given his history with the business. Prior to rejoining, he held a position at Cognity, a professional services firm based in Greece.
His background spans computer science and systems integration. He holds a doctorate in computer science from the National Technical University of Athens and has built a career in technology leadership across multiple organisations.
What Haritos Built
Sotiris Haritos held the CTO role for several years and was a prominent public face of Novibet’s technology strategy. He oversaw the development of the operator’s in-house platform, which the company has consistently cited as a competitive advantage over rivals dependent on third-party infrastructure. In a 2024 interview with SBC News, Haritos described the platform’s dual challenge as managing technical debt while maintaining continuous product development — “like changing the bicycle chain while pedalling vigorously.”
His departure in Q4 2025 was not publicly announced at the time. Novibet has licensed and regulated operations across multiple European jurisdictions, including licences from the HGC, MGA, ADM, and Irish Revenue Commissioners.
Technology Priorities
Novibet has pointed to two areas as central to Stavroulas’s mandate: AI integration and further investment in the proprietary platform. The operator has been building out its tech leadership more broadly. In mid-2025 it appointed Vasili Rappos as Chief Product Officer, with Rappos arriving from Scopely where he had spent more than six years in product roles. The dual appointment of a new CPO and now a new CTO signals a structural reset of the company’s senior technology function.
The in-house platform has been a defining element of Novibet’s positioning. The company operates across Europe and parts of Latin America, and has previously described the platform as essential to its ability to adapt quickly to local market requirements and regulatory changes.
Stavroulas has not made a formal public statement on his appointment. The company has not specified a start date or transition period.
