Flutter Entertainment Reports Mixed Q3 Results as India Exit Weighs on Performance
Flutter Entertainment delivered third-quarter revenue growth of 17% to $3.79 billion, supported by strong iGaming momentum and recent acquisitions, though the global betting operator faced significant challenges from regulatory upheaval in India and unfavorable sports outcomes.
The company reported a net loss of $789 million for the quarter ended September 30, 2025, substantially wider than the $114 million loss recorded in the prior year period. The deterioration stemmed largely from a $556 million non-cash impairment following India’s ban on real-money gaming and a $205 million payment to Boyd Gaming for enhanced US market access.
Average monthly players across the group reached 14.1 million, representing 9% growth year-over-year, while adjusted EBITDA rose 6% to $478 million despite margin compression.
FanDuel Maintains US Leadership Despite Headwinds
Flutter’s flagship FanDuel brand generated $1.37 billion in US revenue, up 9% year-over-year, powered by exceptional iGaming growth of 44%. The platform held a commanding 47% share of online sportsbook net gaming revenue in September, cementing its position as America’s leading betting operator.
However, sportsbook revenue declined 5% as customer-friendly NFL results and aggressive competitor promotions pressured performance. Sportsbook average monthly players grew just 5% after declining 4% in the prior quarter, prompting management to increase marketing investment.
US adjusted EBITDA fell 12% to $51 million, with margin contracting 90 basis points to 3.7%. Management noted that fourth-quarter trends have improved following increased customer acquisition spending, with handle growth accelerating to 10% quarter-to-date.
Prediction Markets Expansion Announced
Flutter unveiled plans to launch FanDuel Predicts in December 2025, entering the emerging prediction markets space through a joint venture with CME Group. The new product will offer sports markets in states without regulated betting, along with financial and cultural markets across virtually all states.
Management expects the initiative to generate incremental adjusted EBITDA costs of $40-50 million in Q4 2025 and $200-300 million throughout 2026. The company emphasized its disciplined investment approach while pursuing market leadership in this new vertical.
International Operations Drive Organic Growth
Flutter’s International division posted revenue of $2.43 billion, up 21% year-over-year, with the Snai and Betnacional acquisitions contributing 18 percentage points. Organic iGaming revenue advanced 10%, led by 46% growth at Sisal Italy online and 65% expansion in Turkey.
International adjusted EBITDA reached $505 million, up 10% from the prior year, though margin declined 230 basis points to 20.8% due to investment phase spending in Brazil.
Regional performance varied significantly. UK and Ireland revenue increased a modest 1%, impacted by prior-year European Football Championship comparisons and unfavorable sports results. Southern Europe and Africa surged 101% including acquisitions, while organic growth reached 19%. Asia Pacific revenue fell 12%, entirely attributable to the India shutdown.

India Regulatory Ban Forces Exit
The Indian Parliament’s August 2025 passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act forced immediate cessation of all real-money gaming operations. Flutter’s Junglee platform, which had been operating skill-based games, was compelled to shut down alongside all other operators.
The $556 million impairment charge comprised $517 million in goodwill, $32 million in acquired intangibles, and $7 million in other long-lived assets. Management noted the goodwill impairment exceeded the original $237 million acquisition cost due to goodwill reallocation following corporate restructuring.
Flutter indicated Junglee will continue offering free-to-play content while the company evaluates medium-term options for the Indian market.
Full-Year Outlook Reduced
Management lowered full-year 2025 guidance significantly, now projecting revenue of $16.69 billion at the midpoint, down $570 million from prior guidance. Adjusted EBITDA expectations were reduced by $380 million to $2.915 billion.
The revisions primarily reflect Q3 underperformance, adverse Q4 sports results totaling approximately $170 million through early November, increased Q4 sportsbook investment, FanDuel Predicts startup costs, Illinois tax treatment changes, and the India regulatory impact.
Despite the near-term challenges, the updated guidance still represents 19% revenue growth and 24% adjusted EBITDA growth year-over-year.
Flutter’s leverage ratio stood at 4.0x at quarter-end, up from 2.2x at year-end 2024, reflecting debt financing for the Snai and Betnacional acquisitions and the Boyd stake purchase. On a pro forma basis including Snai’s trailing results, leverage would be 3.7x. Management remains committed to its medium-term target range of 2.0-2.5x.
The company repurchased 770,000 shares for $225 million during the quarter, bringing total capital returned to $1.12 billion since program inception. A further 1.02 million shares were repurchased in early November for $245 million, with the program continuing into 2026.
“Flutter delivered a solid third quarter, with continued momentum in both our US and International businesses. We are the clear number one operator in the US, and we will continue to build on that position to drive future profitability. Our strategic investments, including the launch of FanDuel Predicts and recent International acquisitions, position us exceptionally well to capture new opportunities and deliver sustainable, profitable growth,” stated CEO Peter Jackson.
