Casumo took Best Casino Operator at the SiGMA Europe Awards 2026 in Valletta, Malta, on 27 May, with CEO Francesco Postiglione citing a third consecutive year winning the title across European ceremonies.

Casumo has been named Best Casino Operator at the SiGMA Europe Awards 2026, held at Casino Maltese in Valletta on 27 May. The award was one of 27 presented across B2B and B2C categories at the annual Malta ceremony, which brought together operators, suppliers, and service providers from across the global gaming sector.

The Award and the Ceremony

The SiGMA Europe Awards are held annually in Malta as part of the SiGMA Euro-Med summit, one of eight SiGMA World ceremonies staged across different regions each year. The 2026 edition took place at Casino Maltese, a historic private members’ club on Valletta’s Strada Reale, with an opening reception supported by 1xBet and a charity auction in aid of the SiGMA Foundation running alongside the gala dinner.

The full winners list confirmed across the ceremony included Evolution as Best Live Casino Provider 2026, Pragmatic Play as Best Slot Game Portfolio 2026, Betsson Group for Best Casino and Sportsbook Integration 2026, and 1xBet as Best Sports Betting Operator 2026. bet365 took Best Multi-Market Sportsbook Operator, while VideoSlots was recognised for Best Player Retention Strategy. Casumo’s Best Casino Operator win places it among the headline B2C results from the evening.

Postiglione’s Response

Third ‘best European Casino operator of the year’ award in three consecutive years. Thank you Casumo’s Umos for having made this possible! Great achievement and a testament to our different branding, product and marketing approach! — Francesco Postiglione, Group CEO, Casumo

Postiglione, who joined Casumo as Group CEO in March 2023, attributed the recognition to a consistent strategic position across product design, brand identity, and marketing. His reference to three consecutive years reflects a run of Best European Casino Operator wins at industry award ceremonies across the past three years.

Casumo’s Market Position

Founded in Malta and operating across regulated markets including the UK, Sweden, Spain, and Ontario, Casumo has built its brand around a distinctive product approach rather than conventional promotional mechanics. The operator is licensed by the Malta Gaming Authority and the UK Gambling Commission, among other regulatory bodies.

The 2026 win at SiGMA Europe follows a period of broader industry recognition for the brand. Casumo has consistently positioned its player experience around engagement-led design, a recognisable brand identity, and personalised journeys, rather than competing primarily on bonus volume. That positioning is increasingly relevant in markets where regulators are tightening restrictions on promotional offers, including the UK where online casino tax rises to 40% and new advertising rules are reshaping operator margins.

The SiGMA Europe ceremony also recognised Evolution in the live casino category, despite the supplier reporting flat revenue and a 9% EBITDA decline for FY2025 amid growing European regulatory pressure. The juxtaposition reflects how awards recognition and financial performance continue to diverge for several major names in the sector.

SiGMA Europe 2026 in Context

The SiGMA Euro-Med summit in Valletta is one of the iGaming calendar’s most attended European events, drawing operators, investors, regulators, and suppliers across two days of conference programming and networking. The awards ceremony sits at the end of the summit and covers categories spanning B2B suppliers, B2C operators, affiliate programmes, platform providers, payment solutions, and responsible gaming initiatives.

The 2026 ceremony awarded 27 categories in total, with winners drawn from across Europe, the Americas, and Asia-Pacific. For Casumo, the Best Casino Operator title is the headline B2C recognition at a ceremony where European operator results have increasingly reflected the pressure of rising taxes and regulatory reform across the continent.

The next SiGMA World ceremony is scheduled for Manila, Philippines in June 2026.
