DAZN has closed its acquisition of US streaming firm ViewLift, adding 17 pro sports teams and 6 regional sports networks to its platform.

DAZN Group has completed its acquisition of ViewLift, a US streaming technology provider, closing the deal on 18 August 2026, just under four months after it was first announced on 30 April 2026. Neither company has disclosed the purchase price; Sportico reported a figure of around $100 million, citing people familiar with the transaction.

The deal adds 17 major US professional sports teams and 6 Regional Sports Networks (RSNs) to DAZN’s platform, along with a client roster that includes the NHL, Versant and Fox Sports Latin America.

Building a US regional sports footprint

The ViewLift purchase follows a run of DAZN moves into US regional sports. The company recently agreed to become the exclusive direct-to-consumer streaming home of MSG Networks and YES Network for the 2026-27 NBA and NHL seasons, a deal that gives DAZN subscribers access to live games from the New York Yankees, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Devils, Islanders and Buffalo Sabres. DAZN also struck a new regional media rights partnership with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Those rights deals put DAZN in direct contact with US teams and networks. ViewLift adds the technology layer: a platform already built and running for a similar set of rights holders.

What ViewLift brings

Ted Leonsis and Rick Allen founded ViewLift in the US in 2008. The company builds end-to-end over-the-top (OTT) and direct-to-consumer streaming products for NBA, NHL and MLB teams, and counts the NHL, Versant and Fox Sports Latin America among its network and league partners. It currently serves 17 major US professional sports teams and 6 RSNs, helping them launch and run their own streaming products.

ViewLift will operate as a standalone business unit inside DAZN. It keeps its existing executive leadership and its current team, according to the two companies.

“ViewLift is officially part of DAZN, and I couldn’t be more pleased to have them on board. Welcoming ViewLift to the DAZN family gives us an even stronger platform to serve leagues, teams and rightsholders across the US and around the world. With additional platform capabilities, longstanding relationships across US sports and years of experience helping rights holders adapt to a changing and evolving sports media landscape, ViewLift enhances our innovative technology and global reach to deliver even more choice and value for our partners and their fans,” said Shay Segev, CEO of DAZN Group.

“Joining DAZN marks an exciting new chapter for ViewLift. We’ve built a business focused on helping leagues, teams and networks launch and grow successful streaming products. By joining DAZN, we’re creating new opportunities for our partners to expand their reach, accelerate growth and deliver even more engaging experiences to fans, while continuing to benefit from the flexibility and service that have defined ViewLift’s success,” said Rick Allen, CEO of ViewLift.

A wider B2B2C offer

With the deal closed, DAZN can combine its own technology, infrastructure and global distribution with ViewLift’s platform to offer leagues, teams and rights holders a broader set of B2B2C and software-as-a-service (SaaS) tools. Rights holders get the option to run their own direct-to-consumer products on DAZN’s back end rather than build and maintain separate streaming infrastructure.

DAZN frames the combined offer as covering streaming, fan engagement and monetisation, aimed at sports organisations “of all sizes,” from single teams to full RSNs, both in the US and internationally.

What comes next

ViewLift’s roster of 17 teams and 6 RSNs gives DAZN an immediate base of US rights holders to build on, on top of the MSG Networks, YES Network and Minnesota Timberwolves agreements it signed this year. Whether DAZN converts that base into new distribution deals, and how it integrates ViewLift’s technology with its own streaming stack, will be the next test of the acquisition.
