The European Gaming and Betting Association (EGBA) has launched the fifth edition of European Safer Gambling Week, scheduled for 17-23 November 2025. The annual initiative brings together operators, regulators, support organisations, and technology providers across 26 countries to promote player protection and safer gambling practices.
Fifth Year Marks Continued Growth
Since its establishment in 2021, European Safer Gambling Week has grown from a regional campaign into a pan-European movement. Last year’s edition achieved record participation with 195 organisations across 26 countries joining the campaign. The coordinated social media campaign reached 3.1 million users with safer gambling messages in local languages, while 20 events attracted more than 3,000 attendees to discuss developments in regulation and player protection research.
The 2025 campaign builds on this momentum with an expanded programme of events, educational resources, and industry collaboration aimed at promoting safer gambling awareness across the European Union and EEA countries.
New Dedicated Website Launches
EGBA recently launched the official European Safer Gambling Week 2025 website at www.safergambling.eu, serving as a central hub for the initiative. The platform features several dedicated sections designed to support player protection and encourage sector participation.
The website includes a comprehensive help page listing helplines and support services across European countries, with contact information for national helplines and self-exclusion systems. Players can access confidential support in their local languages through the resource directory.
An events programme section showcases the growing agenda of conferences, workshops, and webinars scheduled throughout the week, covering topics including responsible gambling advertising, markers of harm, black market gambling, and measuring the effectiveness of safer gambling measures. Industry stakeholders can register for events and view the full programme through the platform.
The site also provides practical guidance for players, including warning signs to monitor, tips for maintaining control while gambling, and the core safer gambling messages that form the foundation of the 2025 campaign.
Coordinated Multi-Platform Campaign
The week-long initiative centres on three primary components. A coordinated social media campaign will distribute safety messaging across multiple platforms, aiming to reach millions of players with practical tips and support resources in their local languages.
The events programme brings together stakeholders to share best practices and innovations in player protection, while discussing the latest research and regulatory developments affecting the European gambling sector.
Pan-European collaboration remains central to the initiative’s approach, with organisations from across Europe’s gambling sector participating—from major operators and national regulators to local support services—all promoting unified player safety messages.
Industry-Wide Participation Invited
EGBA has invited operators, regulators, support organisations, trade associations, technology providers, and other sector stakeholders to participate in European Safer Gambling Week 2025. Campaign graphics are available in 27 languages and can be requested through the official website.
“We’re excited to build on the really positive momentum of last year’s edition for the upcoming European Safer Gambling Week 2025. The initiative has become Europe’s leading platform for safer gambling awareness,” said Maarten Haijer, Secretary General of EGBA. “Last year, there were many fantastic events and discussions organised during the week by a range of stakeholders, and we encourage organisations to start planning any events or activities now.”
Organisations can participate by hosting webinars, workshops, or panel discussions; announcing new safer gambling initiatives during the week; contributing to the social media campaign; conducting staff or customer training sessions; releasing research or data insights on safer gambling; or partnering with support organisations to raise awareness of help services.
The European Safer Gambling Week initiative covers EU/EEA countries and operates in parallel to the separate UK and Ireland Safer Gambling Week. Full information about the 2025 campaign, including the events agenda and participation details, is available at www.safergambling.eu.
