Allwyn has appointed Fredrik Ögren, Chief Technology Officer of Betsson Group for the past five years, as Group Chief Technology Officer (CTO), the Lucerne-based lottery operator said on 6 October 2026. As Allwyn Group CTO, Ögren reports to Kresimir Spajic, CEO of Allwyn Digital, and replaces interim CTO Brett Cross, who moves to a new deputy role.
The Allwyn Group CTO role
Ögren is responsible for the group’s technology strategy and for building a more connected and efficient technology set-up across Allwyn’s markets, according to Allwyn’s announcement. He will work with local market teams and central functions on platforms and product development.
Cross, who had been serving as interim CTO, becomes CTO, Global Lottery & Deputy Group CTO. The position is newly created and reports to Ögren.
Technology plays a critical role in creating great player experiences, enabling innovation and supporting long-term business success. I look forward to working with colleagues across the Group to build an even more connected technology ecosystem, strengthen our capabilities and help deliver the next phase of Allwyn’s growth.

Ögren at Betsson
Ögren joined Betsson in 2019 as Cloud and DevOps Director and became Director of Platforms and Infrastructure in January 2021, according to a July 2021 report by MaltaCEOs. He took over as Betsson’s CTO on 1 July 2021.
In that role he ran the operator’s technology strategy and the development of its large-scale platforms as Betsson grew across several regulated markets, Allwyn said.
He brings deep industry experience, strong technical expertise and a proven track record of leading technology transformation across global organisations. His appointment is an important step in building a more scalable technology platform across the Group, helping us deliver even better experiences for our customers and partners.

Allwyn’s leadership changes
Ögren is the second group-level hire Allwyn has announced in a month. On 9 September 2026 the company named Francesco Rodano as Group Head of Responsible Gaming, according to its newsroom.
Both appointments follow a year of corporate change. Allwyn completed its merger with OPAP and listed in Athens in March 2026, and Allwyn AG has since completed its legal relocation to Switzerland. The company is listed on Euronext Athens and operates lottery and gaming businesses in Europe and North America.
Spajic thanked Cross for his work as interim Group CTO. Cross now leads technology for Allwyn’s Global Lottery business, with Ögren and Cross forming the group’s technology leadership, according to the statement.
