The Hellenic Gaming Commission (EEEP) is recruiting 40 staff for its Gaming Inspectors Corps, the unit that carries out inspections and enforcement against illegal gambling in Greece. The posts will be filled by seconding public-sector employees, and applications close on 6 November 2026.
EEEP published the call, numbered 1/2026, in its announcement on staffing the Gaming Inspectors Corps. It is open to permanent staff and employees on indefinite-term private-law contracts in the public bodies listed in Article 14(1) of Law 4270/2014. The number of posts and the deadline were reported by Greek business site Insider.gr on 15 October.
Hellenic Gaming Commission budget
The hiring follows a restructuring of the Hellenic Gaming Commission approved in June. EEEP decision 22/13/5.6.2026, published in the Government Gazette, Issue B’ 3488, on 17 June 2026, set a new organisation and operating regulation for the authority’s services.
According to the decision, the extra cost is charged to EEEP’s 2026 budget, approved on 5 February 2026, where the credit has already been entered; later budgets will carry the corresponding amounts. EEEP pays from its own resources, with no charge to the Greek state budget.
The new structure places a directorate for market compliance and combating illegal gambling under EEEP’s General Directorate, next to the directorates for licensing, regulation and responsible gaming, IT, finance and procurement.
New enforcement powers
The inspectors will work under powers widened by Article 61 of Law 5313/2026, which amends Article 17 of Law 3229/2004. The article lets EEEP:
- contract specialised scientific and technical work on detecting illegal gambling, addiction and money laundering in the sector;
- run mystery-shopper checks on gambling operations;
- use IT tools to monitor players and addiction risk;
- build databases to vet the beneficial owners and other related persons of licensed operators;
- act against illegal online content under Articles 12 and 13 of Law 5099/2024.
EEEP lists the Corps’ priorities as player protection, combating illegal gambling, transparency and the orderly running of the market, along with new risks from artificial intelligence and digital markets, according to Insider.gr. The recruitment campaign runs under the line “40 positions. 40 new challenges. One common mission” (translated from Greek).
TGE reported in June on the government’s consultation on a gambling reform bill targeting the black market. The Greek gambling market generated €3.07bn in GGR in 2025.
Previous call
EEEP last sought 40 secondees for the Corps in March 2024, according to Greek news site Dnews. That call split the posts into 25 university-level administrative and economic roles, 5 lawyers, 5 university-level IT roles, 3 technological-level accounting roles and 2 technological-level IT roles. Secondments ran for 4 years, renewable up to three times.
Next steps
Applications for the 40 posts close on 6 November 2026. EEEP will then select public-sector candidates for secondment to the Gaming Inspectors Corps.
